We have taken a giant step forward for a food ingredients manufacturer of our size: Attaining 100% CO2-neutrality in Denmark during 2015 despite having lifted production volume by over 60% since 2006.
Corporate social responsibility is built into our founding principles. As a foundation-owned company, we have the freedom and resources to lead our industry in sustainability.
Denmark is a natural starting point for reducing emissions, as the plant at Juelsminde uses the most energy in the group, and here we have access to infrastructure and technologies that are in their infancy in many other parts of the world.
Sustainability is important for many of Palsgaard’s customers. As a supplier, the company does its best to live up to our customers’ requirements for more sustainable production. The activities the company performs in this area contribute to making us a preferred supplier for many customers, and therefore, sustainable production is not just a cost but also a key business parameter.
Palsgaard’s CO2-neutrality framework incorporates the principles of the Green House Gas (GHG) Protocol, Scopes 1 and 2, developed by World Resources Institute and World Business Council on Sustainable Development to set the global standard for how to measure, manage, and report greenhouse gas emissions. Company vehicles are not included in Palsgaard’s framework.
Going forward, Palsgaard’s target calls for a variety of projects and initiatives in its operations abroad – and to maintain the Danish plant’s 2015 achievement.
